The term ‘guru-shishya parampara’ can be simplified as follows: ‘guru’ means teacher, ‘shishya’ means student, and ‘parampara’ signifies tradition. Unlike modern education, this system required students to reside at the gurukul, the teacher’s abode, until their educational journey was complete.

Imagine children as young as eight embarking on a journey of knowledge, spending nearly 15-17 years with their guru until they reach 23-25 years of age.
